The US dollar fetched only around Rs 270 at the time of closing trade on Friday, March 10 in the black markets of Pettah, Wellawatte, Galle, Bentota and Beruwala, a money exchange broker said. The official rate was around Rs. 317 to the dollar.
The broker said that the value of the dollar had been falling daily due to the increasing value of the rupee in the past few days. A further drop could be expected, he said.
