Road accident injures five army soldiers

In a tragic incident this morning on the Colombo-Kandy main road in Radawadunna, five army personnel sustained injuries in a road accident.

According to reliable sources, a fuel bowser collided head-on with a vehicle that was transporting army personnel from Polhengoda camp to Giritale camp. The collision occurred earlier today, on June 20.

An army staff sergeant, a sergeant, and three corporals are among the injured. Out of the six army personnel present in the vehicle during the accident, five of them were promptly rushed to Wathupitiwala Hospital for immediate medical attention. Regrettably, one of the injured individuals required specialized treatment and was subsequently transferred to Colombo National Hospital.

The driver of the fuel bowser involved in the collision has been apprehended and is currently in police custody. The Nittambuwa Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
