Tragic Accident Claims Life of Three-Year-Old Girl in Bandaragama

Bandaragama police have reported a heart-wrenching incident today, as a three-year-old girl lost her life in a collision involving a bus under army control and a scooter. The victim, identified as Isadi Denethma Sapuge, resided in the Raigama Kale Kade Road area.

The accident occurred in front of the cooperative office, where the girl's mother, who serves as an accountant at the main office of the Bandaragama cooperative society, was commuting to work with her daughter on the scooter. Devastatingly, the collision resulted in the little girl's immediate death.

The mother, traumatized by the incident, is reported to be in severe shock and is currently receiving treatment.

Locals residing in the vicinity have come forward with alarming accounts of the bus involved in the accident. They have informed the police that this particular bus has been observed driving recklessly every morning, endangering the lives of those on the road. .

Preliminary investigations conducted by the police indicate that the bus, transporting personnel from Kalutara to the Army Headquarters and the Ministry of Defense, was traveling from Bandaragama to Kesbewa. Regrettably, the bus veered carelessly onto the wrong side of the road and collided with the scooter in the middle of the street near the Bandaragama Cooperative Head Office.

Following the collision, the seriously injured girl and her mother were promptly rushed to the Bandaragama District Hospital by local residents who acted swiftly in response to the incident.

Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision.
