Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said there won’t be untrained or non-degree holders in the school system by 2028.
Accordingly moves are under way to merge all the Colleges of Education together to form a Teacher Training University to offer degrees to students to be recruited as teachers. “In the future, all the Colleges of Education will be merged and the teachers will be directed to the school system as graduates through this proposed single teacher training university,” Minister Premajayantha said.
Accordingly, by 2028, there will be no untrained teachers in the field of education, he stressed.
