Excitement is building up as the Eastern Province Badminton Association, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Badminton prepares to host the Eastern Province All Ceylon Open Badminton Championship from September 19-24, an official said.
The championship which will take place at the state-of-the-art Mchyzer Indoor Stadium in Trincomalee, promises a diverse range of competition categories, including Open, Senior and Junior divisions.
In the junior category, young talents will compete in events for age groups under 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19, while senior players will contest in age groups for over 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, and 70.
The tournament’s open category will feature men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches. Furthermore, the losing singles semi-finalists will battle for the Plate championship titles.
According to an official the champions will be awarded substantial cash prizes to the value of Rs. 500,000.
