Kumaratunga Munidasa Maha Vidyalaya in Matara won the girls’ championship while the overall boys’ championship was won by Rahula Vidyalaya, Matara at the CBL Samaposha Southern Province School Games held at the DA Rajapaksa Stadium in Beliatta.
The sole objective of the CBL Samaposha 2023 Provincial School Games was to strengthen Sri Lankan school athletes, promote their health and physical fitness and produce athletes who can win international fame for the country with emphasis on skills development, creativity, education and moral conduct.
The Games began in 2015 and centred around the North Central Province, that eventually covered the North-Western, Eastern and Uva Provinces ending with the Southern Province Games.
Over 18,500 school children took part in the Games representing 1800 schools contesting more than 70 events giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents according to the organisers.
