State Minister of Home Affairs Ashoka Priyantha said that steps are being taken to solve the problematic service issues of Grama Niladharies countrywide and the service constitution of Grama Niladharies will be prepared shortly.
He was speaking at a meeting of Grama Niladharies of the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts at the Wennappuwa Divisional Secretariat recently.
The State Minister said that nearly 2,238 new Grama Niladharies will be recruited to Government service countrywide before February 4, next year and the candidates who have passed the Competitive Grama Niladhari Examination conducted by the Examinations Department will be given appointments.
State Minister Priyantha said that Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has instructed him to expedite the preparation of the Grama Niladhari Service Constitution and their service issues will be addressed.
“Since Grama Niladharies are performing a vital role in improving the living and economic condition of the rural folk in the country, the Government has given priority to resolve their service problems as early as possible,” he added.
