As expected one of the leading favourites for the league championship defending champs Kandy SC thrashed a hapless Army SC by 33 points (5 tries, 4 conversions) to 14 (2 tries, 2 conversions) at Panagoda yesterday.
As the game progressed the Kandy outfit exerted their authority over the inexperienced Army team and began mounting their three-quarter moves at will.
In the line-outs Kandy completely out-jumped their opponents while in the loose their forwards played a tireless game showing a marked improvement from their opening match against CH and FC when they had to struggle to win.
The Kandy three-quarters made some superb moves which caught the Army lads on the wrong foot many times over and over again in the entire match.
For the winners Kandy Sports Club the five tries were scored by Dilshad Fareed who crossed the line twice, Wewela Panditha , Maleesha Rashmika and DPLS Ranaweera who touched down once each.
For Army it marked their second defeat after losing to CR and FC last week and are now in danger of failing to qualify in the top four for the Cup.
