Despite overflowing with money as probably the richest institution in the country, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) after more than two months let ground staff at two venues in Colombo and Kandy have what was due to them by way of a donation from the Asian Cricket Council.

The Asian Cricket Council made a donation of 50,000 US dollars (Rs.16 million) to the ground staff during the Asia Cup that was played at the Pallekele International Stadium and the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The donation was made to National curator Godfrey Dabare on behalf of the ground staff but SLC held on to the money that was this week presented to 138 workers at the Colombo venue and 115 workers at the Kandy venue.

But SLC in a statement said that the Asian Cricket Council donated only 25,000 US dollars while they (SLC) doled out 25,000 US dollars.
