Isipathanian manages Trinity
Kapila Silva a former rugby player of Isipathana College has been appointed manager of the Trinity College team.
He has been the manager of the Kandy SC for the past 14 years having played for Isipathana from 1995 to ’97 as a lock forward and later joined CH & FC.
He played for Kandy SC till 2008 and the following year was named as their manager. He also coached Dharmaraja College.
Kandy hockey set for tournament
The Kandy District Hockey Association headed by R. Maheswaran and able secretary M.A. Ashroff have finalized their annual inter club men’s and women’s tournament that will take place on December 16 and 17 at the Peradeniya University ground.
This tournament was delayed due to lack of a ground. Ten men’s A division teams and eight in the B division will be taking part along with six women’s club teams.
Lalith Athulathmudali wins rugby Tens
Thirty-two under-16 school rugby teams in the country were seen in action at the Premier Cup under-16 10-a-side tournament which was played at the Bogambara Stadium and Digana Sports Complex.
The tournament was organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association without a sponsor for the event.
The Cup championship was won by Lalith Athulathmudali College Mount Lavinia and the runners-up were Central College Maharagama.
The Plate was won by Dharmapala College Pannipitiya and Debarawewa Central College were the runners-up. The Bowl event saw President’s College Maharagama emerge champions and Ibbagamuwa Central Kurunegala were runners-up. In the Shield DB Welagedra College were the champions and Royal College Panadura were the runners-up.
Cup champions Lalith Athulathmudali College’s top player N. Thissera was adjudged the player of the tournament award.
