Discussion on social dialogue in Sri Lanka

The round table discussion on Strengthening the Social Dialogue in Sri Lanka was held at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo recently under the patronage of Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara.

The Certificate Award Ceremony for the Diploma in Social Dialogue and Labour Relations conducted by the National Institute of Labour Studies also took place. Thirty candidates received certificates. The National Institute of Labour Studies expects to use them as trainers to implement Social Dialogue in Sri Lanka.

This Diploma was sponsored by the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment, the European Commission, and the International Training Center of the International Labour Organization.

Under this program, special attention was given to promoting Social Dialogue and Labour Relations in Sri Lanka. The specially designed diploma program was mainly conducted online with a five-day onsite training.

A tripartite round table discussion representing state sector, employers and employees was held after the diploma awarding ceremony. Senior Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment B. Vasanthan, General Secretary of Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya Leslie Devendra, Deputy Director General of Employers Federation of Ceylon Adhil Khasim and Secretary General of the National Trade Union Federation Dr.Padmasiri Ranawakaarachchi took part in the round table discussion moderated by Isabelle Kronisch from Global Deal organisation.
