Sylvestrian chess, carom players felicitated

Old Sylvestrian Sport Stars felicitated their top class carom and chess players at the Sampath Hall under the patronage of Ajith Premasinghe Chief Secretary Central Province Council. Felicitated were 14 carom players who were in the All Island Championship and gave their best along with 16 players in chess.

Kandy Police win

Kandy Police and Canada Police, with experienced cricketers played a 20-over match at the Police ground.

The Kandy Police side led by Aruna Krishantha and coached by Yapa Bandara beat Canada Police by six wickets in this exhibition match.

Batting first Canada Police scored 107 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.

In reply Kandy Police scored 110 runs for 4 wickets in 13 overs.

Buddhika to coach Sylvestrian rugby

St. Sylvester’s College has enrolled Buddihka Abeysinghe as their new rugby coach for the 2024 season. He was a talented player during his school days at Vidyartha College and led the school in 2007 and also played for the Sri Lanka schools side in 2005 and 2007.

He played for Kandy Sports Club in 2008 and 2009 and later he took to coaching at Trinity College and Dharmaraja College.

Battle of the Maroons

The Battle of the Maroons cricket match between Dharmaraja College and Kingswood College which will be their 117th battle will be played for the TB Tennekoon Shield on March 22 and 23.

Of the matches played so far Dharmaraja has won 36 encounters while Kingswood has won 19 matches and rest of the encounters have ended in draws.
