Nihonbashi Japanese restaurant opened at Port City

President Ranil Wickremesinghe launched the Nihonbashi Japanese Restaurant at Colombo Port City, adding another landmark to it.

The restaurant features eight private dining rooms with a mix of Japanese tatami style seating and western style seating, drawing inspiration from Dhahran’s Japanese heritage.

Nihonbashi was set up in 1995 at Galle Face terrace and is the first restaurant from Sri Lanka to be featured on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants’ list, ranking consecutively from 2013–2018. Here President with the President’s Senior Adviser on National Security and Chief of Staff to the President, Sagala Ratnayaka, renowned chef and founder of Nihonbashi, Darshana Munidasa engaged in a Japanese tradition.
