Aruna Dharshana and Tharushi Karunaratne brought honour to Sri Lanka by winning the 400 metres events in their respective categories at the Taiwan Open Athletic Championship meet yesterday.
Dharshana won in the final of the men’s 400m race in a time of 45.82 seconds and with this win his chances of qualifying for the Paris Olympics are now within reach.
Tharushi Karunaratne the women’s gold medalist in the 800m race at the Asian Games also won the 400m event in a time of 52.48 seconds.
However, Nadeesha Ramanayake finished in fourth place in this 400m event for women.
