Asoka Pieris assumed duties as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cargills Bank PLC on July 3.
He was previouslythe Deputy Chairman of the Board. He succeeds Richard Ebell, who retired from the Board upon completion of the maximum permissible tenure on the Board of a bank as per the Banking regulations.
Pieris is an Independent Non-Executive Director of CargillsBank, and has been a member of the Board of Directors since January 2023.
He has a wealth of experience in the fields of finance, marketing, and manufacturing, both in Sri Lanka and abroad.
He has held many leadership roles, most recently as the Managing Director of Cargills Retail (Pvt) Ltd.
He has also served on the boards of sev eral other companies, including Cargills (Ceylon) PLC, Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC, Hatton National Bank PLC, Singer Finance (Lanka) PLC, Commercial Leasing Company PLC and the First Capital group of companies. Mr Pieris holds professional affiliations including being an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK and a Certified Global Management Accountant.
