Electricity bills of over 1.8m consumers will drop to Rs. 280

The Ministry of Power and Energy said that according to the concessions given to the electricity tariff, 1,843,762 electricity consumers will have to pay a maximum of Rs. 280 for electricity. Ministry sources said that it is 39 percent of the total number of domestic electricity consumers.

Moreover, 1,727,828 other consumers will have to pay a maximum monthly electricity bill of only Rs.700, the sources said.

More than half of the total number of domestic electricity consumers has received great relief by having to pay a greatly reduced electricity bill.

The total number of domestic electricity consumers is 6,051,301 of which only 199,142 electricity consumers have been reported as high consumption consumers in the entire country.
