EC halts Urumaya program

The Election Commission (EC) has banned the distribution of title deeds under the “Urumaya” program on the basis that President Ranil Wickremesinghe, under whose patronage the program is held, is a candidate at the Presidential Election (PE). The Urumaya program will resume after the PE is held on September 21.
