The Undergraduate Research Symposium of Social Sciences (URSS) 2024, organized by the Research Centre for Social Sciences (RCSS), University of Kelaniya, was successfully held on the August 30, 2024 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Kelaniya. This year’s symposium focused on the theme “Ensuring Sustainable Development through the Power of Social Sciences”.
The event was graced by the participation of Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, as the Guest of Honour, while Prof. M.M. Gunathilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences graced the event as the Conference Chair.
An insightful keynote address was delivered by Prof. K. Karunathilake, Cadre Chair and Senior Professor of the Department of Sociology, University of Kelaniya, during the event.
Present at the occasion were Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Prof. A. G. Amarasinghe, Director of the RCSS; Dr. K.R.N. Harshani, Conference Secretary of the URSS; all the heads of the departments of the Faculty of Social Sciences; professors and senior lecturers of the Faculty of Social Sciences; and the research presenters.
