For the week ended October 4, 2024, the Colombo Stock Exchange recorded a weekly turnover of Rs. 12.6 billion. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) posted a return of 2.37%, while the S&P SL20 showed a return of 3.91%.

The Banking sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Sampath Bank, Hatton National Bank and Commercial Bank) while the sector index gained 1.70%. The share price of Sampath Bank increased by Rs. 2.30 (2.91%) to close at Rs. 81.30. The share price of Hatton National Bank gained Rs. 3.00 (1.41%) to close at Rs. 215.25. The share price of Commercial Bank moved up by Rs. 1.00 (0.96%) to close at Rs. 105.00.

The Capital Goods sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to John Keells Holdings) while the sector index increased by 2.27%.
