Voices for Peace IV, an inspiring initiative aimed at uniting Sri Lanka’s diverse communities through the transformative power of music and the arts will take place on December 9, 2024, at the Lionel Wendt Theatre, Colombo.

This year’s event promises to uphold its tradition of fostering harmony by featuring performances that celebrate the rich cultural and traditional backgrounds of Sri Lanka’s diverse faiths in a powerful celebration. Haadia Galely founded Voices for Peace in response to the tragic events of Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. Launched on July 9, 2019 in partnership with the Shangri-La Hotel Colombo, the initiative’s core mission is to foster healing, dialogue, and understanding among Sri Lanka’s diverse communities. “Voices for Peace represents more than just an event; it is a movement aimed at building bridges of trust and compassion across Sri Lanka’s diverse faiths and cultures,” Haadia said. “Through the universal language of music, we can unite people, honour our shared humanity, and nurture a peaceful and inclusive future, ” she added.

Led by renowned artistic directors Soundarie David Rodrigo (Soul Sounds Academy), Frances Almeida (Acoustics Chorale) and Manoj Sanjeewa (Muslim Choral Ensemble and Buddhist Ensemble), Voices for Peace brings together over 80 singers from the Sri Lankan Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities.

Their collaboration has transcended religious and cultural divides and since its inception, Voices for Peace has made a significant impact by offering a platform for collective reflection and renewal and a space for people of all backgrounds to come together, to celebrate and strengthen their bonds of solidarity.

The event will feature performances highlighting the island’s artistic and spiritual heritage. Voices for Peace IV will be an evening of collaboration, hope, love, and unity
