Kandy SC curtain to draw packed house

A record crowd is expected today when Kandy Sports Club scrum down in their first game of the new inter club league rugby season against newcomers Sri Lions Sports Club at Nittawela.

Kandy SC is led by Srinarth Sooriyabandara while the Sri Lions are captained by Kevin Dixon and both teams have a blend of young talent and experience.

According to analysts there is a striking similarity in the style of play of both teams with the hardworking forwards sure to do a foraging job for the ball with the hard-running backs ready to complete the moves.

Badi-Ud-Din girls win medals

Badi-Ud-Din Mahmud Girls College in Kandy won two Gold medals and four Bronze at the Sri Lanka National Shotokan Karate championship.

Ameera and Risheema won the Gold medals while the Bronze medals were won by Nusha, Shaima, Reeshma and Aynah.

Vidyartha Dharmasoka draw

The inter school cricket match between Vidyartha College and Dharmasoka College ended in a draw at Nittawela.

Vidyartha College 258 (Danupa Kodikara 94 not out, Chamalka Gihan 39, Anuhas Ranaweera 23, Dineth Gimhana 3 for 50, Kaveesha Sandaruwan 2 for 24, Pasindu Nadeesh 2 for 19) and 66 for 9 (Dineth Gimhana 3 for 9, Ishan Anuradha 3 for 24)

Dharmasoka College 179 (Chandupa Kavisha 62, Omega Karunarathna 49, Chenul Hansaja 5 for 55, Shehan Mosses 2 for 34) and 25 for no loss
