After a lapse of nearly eight months, a major motor racing event will take place in the country today with the flagging off of the Kotmale Speed Hill Climb.

Motor sports in the country came to a standstill in April this year following the deaths of eight spectators at the Foxhill Supercross in Diyatalawa. The Senkadagala Motor Sports Club and the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club are jointly conducting the Kotmale Speed Hill Climb.

Over 150 race drivers and riders are expected to gear up for the championship catering to Classic cars, Super cars, Modified cars and Formula events along with motorcycle races.
