The blue water lily is the national flower of my motherland, Sri Lanka. The blue water lily was declared the national flower on the 26th of February, 1986. It is a significant feature in Buddhist literature, arts, poetry, and indigenous medicine.
The botanical name given to the blue water lily is Nymphaea nouchali Burm. It grows in waterways and blooms throughout the year. It’s very soft and light blue-purple in colour.
