On May 1, 2025, the Leo Club of SLIIT carried out Project Nethraloka – Phase 2, an initiative focused on eye health awareness and early detection of vision issues in young children. Held at the Samup Pera Pasala in Kaduwela, the project aimed to assess the eyesight of preschool children and their parents while spreading vital knowledge on eye care.

The program commenced at 9.30 am. and saw the participation of medical professionals, volunteers, and community members. Children underwent basic vision screening, and those identified with low visibility were provided with further guidance for specialist consultation. Parents, too, were educated on early signs of vision problems and preventive measures to safeguard their child’s eye health.

This effort highlighted the importance of early intervention. A project team member said, “Helping a child see clearly is not just about vision—it’s about giving them the chance to dream, to learn, and to discover the world in full colour.”
