Chocolate Oat Bars

Ingredients

250 grams of rolled oats

100 grams of butter

5 tablespoons of honey or kithul treacle

25 grams of grated coconut

1 teaspoon of vanilla

A pinch of salt to taste

Your favourite milk or dark chocolate

2 tablespoons of fresh cream or coconut milk

Crushed peanuts to garnish

 

 

Method

With your mother’s help pre-heat the oven to 250 degrees.

Prepare a baking tray and line it with parchment paper and grease it with butter.

Take a large bowl and add the butter, honey or treacle and beat it well until it becomes creamy.

Add the oats, coconut, vanilla and a pinch of salt to the butter mixture and mix till well combined. If it’s too dry you can add a splash of milk or water to the mixture.

With your mom’s help transfer the mixture to the prepared baking tray and press it down well. Bake for 15-20 minutes and let it cool.

Break your favourite chocolate into a bowl and add the cream and gently heat it until it forms a thick chocolate sauce.

Spread the chocolate evenly on the oats and top with the crushed peanuts.

Cut them into bars and enjoy as a dessert or a tasty tea time treat.
