SriLankan Airlines flight UL 122, operated by aircraft 4R-ALS, was subjected to a special security search at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday following an alert from the Chennai Area Control Centre that several suspects linked to a recent terror attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir, may have been on board.

The alert warned that six suspected terrorists could have been among the passengers on the flight from Chennai. Police said the warning prompted a coordinated security response on arrival.

In a statement, SriLankan Airlines said that flight UL 122 landed in Colombo at 11.59 am and was searched by security personnel. The airline said the operation was carried out in coordination with the local authorities after receiving the Indian alert about a suspect wanted in connection with the attack.
