Sri Lanka’s national champion and number one ranked junior player, Dinara De Silva, continued her superb form by winning the Girls’ Singles title at the ITF SSC J30 Week 2 Tennis Tournament, which concluded at the SSC Courts in Maitland Place yesterday.
Dinara, who is just 16, produced another outstanding performance to beat India’s Aleena Farid in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, in the final. It was a confident and commanding display from the young Sri Lankan star, who dominated the match from start to finish with powerful groundstrokes and excellent court coverage.
This victory gave Dinara her second consecutive title in this competition, having also won the Week 1 Singles title last week at the same venue.
With this back-to-back triumph, Dinara underlined her status as one of South Asia’s rising stars in junior tennis.
