Annual White Sand Paving Ceremony at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi

The Bank of Ceylon again organised the annual pinkama, a ritual of laying white sand at the revered Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya.

This event, aimed at invoking blessings for peace, harmony, and prosperity across the nation, was conducted under the guidance of the Most Ven. Chief Incumbent Atamasthanadhipathi, Nuwara Kalaviya Pallegama Hemarathana Thera.

The Chairman of the Bank of Ceylon, Kavinda de Zoysa, and General Manager/Chief Executive Officer, Russel Fonseka, the Bank of Ceylon’s Board of Directors, corporate and executive management, staff members from North Central Province, members of Bank’s Buddhist Association and officials participated.

The Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is the Southern branch of Sri Maha Bodhi in India which revered worldwide by Buddhists, as a place where Siddhartha Gautama Bodhisattva achieved enlightenment and the Buddha bestowed the Animisa Lochana.
