NDB Bank celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year in true festive spirit with the “NDB Awurudu Kumara and Kumariya 2025” competition, marking another memorable chapter in the Bank’s cultural calendar.
Reflecting the warmth and unity that define Avurudu traditions, the event brought together employees from across the island to celebrate heritage, community, and creativity.
This year’s competition saw an enthusiastic response, with 64 nominations for Avurudu Kumara and 53 nominations for Avurudu Kumariya submitted from departments and branches across the Bank. A distinguished panel of judges presided over the first round of selections, shortlisting 15 finalists in each category based on their poise, personality, and embodiment of festive tradition.
Emerging victorious in the final round was Dhulmi Udara from the Customer Experience team was named NDB Awurudu Kumariya 2025, while Nimsara Ekanayake from the HR Department, who was crowned NDB Awurudu Kumara 2025.
The first runners-up were Ashika Rajudeen of Retail Credit and Shiran Sanjeewa of the Regional Sales Unit – Colombo. The second runners-up titles were awarded to Ravinga Rathnayake of Nawam Mawatha Branch and John Rajeev from Cards Business. The Most Popular titles, awarded through internal voting, went to Himaya Mullegama of the Kegalle Branch and Pavan De Silva of SS Entity Mandates.
The event highlighted the value NDB places on cultivating a people-centric culture. It served not only as a celebration of Avurudu but also as a platform for team bonding, self-expression, and unity across the Bank’s dynamic and diverse workforce.
