HelpAge Sri Lanka, one of the country’s oldest charities serving the disadvantaged elderly for nearly three decades, is calling on the public to be part of Symphony of Hope, a special fundraising concert that supports free cataract surgeries for underprivileged elderly citizens.

The concert will be held on Friday, May 23 at 7.30 pm at the Musaeus College Auditorium, featuring a star-studded lineup including Sohan Weerasinghe, Annesley Malewana, Keerthi Pasquel, Mariazelle Gunathilake, Ashanthi De Alwis, Judy De Silva, Falan Andrea, Damien Wickramasinghe, and Rukshan Perera. They will be accompanied by the versatile band Aroh, promising a vibrant mix of Sinhala and English hits – creating an unforgettable evening of music. Kumar de Silva will compere the event.

Since 2009, the HelpAge Eye Charity Hospital in Wellawatte has conducted over 52,000 free surgeries, restoring vision and dignity to the elderly in need. Performing up to 20 operations a day, the hospital is now facing rising costs and a demand for support. Funds from Symphony of Hope—raised through ticket sales, sponsorships, and optional surgery donations of Rs. 25,000—will go directly towards sustaining this free essential service.
