The economy is stabilising and the market conditions in the country are fast improving supporting the IT and computer industry which is growing at a rapid pace, said Asus and Republic of Gamers (ROG) Sri Lanka Country Channel Manager Ishkey Irshad.
Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the company’s latest suite of computing innovations in Colombo last week, he said the conditions in Sri Lanka for businesses have improved and added that Asus Sri Lanka hopes to see a sale of between 2,000-3,000 gaming laptops in Sri Lanka during the quarter.
He said the market for gaming laptops which are not used only for gaming but also for hybrid and office work is growing daily as the gaming world is fast developing.
“Gaming is no more a fancy of children but everyone’s preference and the segment is a big business globally,” said Irshad.
Asus Sri Lanka hopes to boost its market share which is growing steadily in the gaming segment taking advantage of the market conditions in Sri Lanka, the Asus Sri Lanka Country Channel Manager said.
However, he said that there are parallel imports flooding the market but even with the parallel imports sales of Asus laptops have grown.
Setting a new benchmark for ultra-portability, AI acceleration, and next-generation gaming experiences in the country Asus Sri Lanka launched Asus Zenbook A14 and ROG StrixSCAR 16/18 models, both of which promise to revolutionise how Sri Lankans engage with personal computing, from professional productivity to high-performance gaming.
The event, in Colombo, introduced five new laptops: the Asus Zenbook A14 (UX3407), Vivobook S14 (S3407), Vivobook 16 (X1607) and the gaming-centred ROG StrixSCAR 16/18 (G635/G835), and ROG Zephyrus G16 (GU605).
At the forefront of this innovation wave is the Asus Zenbook A14, its lightest Copilot+ PC weighing merely 980 grams. Built with a futuristic Ceraluminum chassis — combining the lightness and durability of aluminum and the anti-scratch properties of ceramic — it is designed for next-level portability without compromise.
For gamers and creators, the ROG Strix Scar 16/18 takes centre stage, combining the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics and 240Hz WQXGA Mini-LED ROG Nebula HDR displays.
These machines are designed not just for speed but also for style and thermal stability, featuring advanced ambient cooling systems for marathon gaming sessions.
