Kumari Liyanage, first female Commissioner General of Examinations

K. S. Indika Kumari Liyanage assumed duties as the Commissioner General of Examinations on Thursday at the Examinations Department premises as the first female Commissioner General of Examinations in the country. She is the eleventh Commissioner General of Examinations in the country and is a member of the 2005 batch of the Sri Lanka Educational Administrative Service.

She is also a Special Grade Officer in the service and has served as the Examination Commissioner in charge of the Confidential School Examination Branch of the Examinations Department as well as the Examination Commissioner in charge of the Administration and Investigation Branch before being appointed as the Commissioner General of Examinations.

The new Commissioner General of Examinations, who has also held the posts of Deputy Principal and Principal of D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo, is an alumna of Sanghamittha College, Galle.

Ms. Liyanage, who holds a first degree from the University of Ruhuna, holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Colombo and a Master of Arts degree in Linguistics from the University of Kelaniya.
