Priyan Malinda, a 34-year-old provincial journalist from Kantale in the Trincomalee district, died in a fatal hit-and-run accident early yesterday morning on the Habarana–Trincomalee road near Kalvankulam.
Malinda, a father of two, was reportedly returning home from Ratnapura on his motorcycle when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle. The collision proved fatal, and he died on the spot.
The driver of the vehicle had fled without offering assistance. Habarana Police have launched an investigation and are working to trace the vehicle involved in the incident.
