The Sri Lanka Agripreneurs’ Forum (SLAF) had a high-level meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Maryam Mariya, during her official visit to Sri Lanka recently.
The meeting was held at the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives in Colombo 4. Director General of Agriculture Hussain Faisal and High Commissioner Masood Imad, Maldivian officials and leading figures from Sri Lanka’s agribusiness sector were present.
The discussion focused on investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector and how strategic partnerships could benefit both countries. Notable areas of interest included tourism-centric cultivation models, development of the poultry industry, and opportunities for mechanisation through investment in agricultural machinery and equipment. The Maldivian delegation indicated readiness to offer tax incentives and regulatory support for aligned investments.
Through this partnership, Sri Lankan agripreneurs have the opportunity to support and participate in agricultural development projects in the Maldives, while also attracting reciprocal investment into Sri Lanka’s agribusiness ecosystem.
