Dr. M.D.P. Pinto of the Department of Surgery, University of Kelaniya, represented Sri Lanka at the Bi-ennial International Meeting of the Asian Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AsAES), held on April 3, 2025, at the Lotte World Hotel in Seoul, South Korea.
Dr. Pinto delivered a speech on the topic “Central Compartment Node Dissection in Thyroid Cancer,” marking Sri Lanka’s sole representation at the esteemed event.
The AsAES is the only professional society in the Australasian region dedicated exclusively to endocrine surgeons—specialists who treat conditions related to the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. The association’s international meeting, held every two years, brings together leading surgeons, researchers, and trainees from across Asia, the Middle East, Japan, Turkey, and Russia.
