Greetings !

The Sunday Observer Explorer is back after the Vesak holidays!

Because we did not publish this section dedicated to Travel, Life, Leisure and Wellbeing in view of the Vesak holidays on May 18, we bring you some of the moments captured by our cameraman Sudath Malaweera on his walkabouts in the Colombo city during Vesak in this issue. It is noteworthy that the tourists in the city during the Vesak week, wasn’t just observing the locals but participating in the rituals with the locals, mingling with the crowds in temples and even volunteering at the dansals lining up the many streets of Colombo.

The Lotus Tower rose to the occasion with its illumination depicting the Buddhist flag.

Miss Universe, Sri Lanka

The Miss Universe, Sri Lanka 2025 beauty pageant which took off to a great start with the Auditions completed, has already held the mini pageants -; Miss. Fitness and Best in Swimwear contests. A press Conference was held at the HANGLA – Ocean front – a restaurant par excellence at the roof top of One Galle Face. The picturesque setting there was a wonderful backdrop for the 35 finalists to pose for photographs. Sunday Observer Explorer has featured the press conference in page 35 this week and will be featuring the 35 finalists who gathered at HANGLA next week. British Journalists here

It is indeed good news that a delegation of Journalists from the British Guild of Travel Writers Association are here and chose our country to hold the 2nd leg of their AGM and conference here.

It is heartwarming that one of the writers even got attired in the nilame outfit, to display their enthusiasm and excitement of being in Sri Lanka.

Until we bring you more interesting news next weekend, wish you Happy Reading !
