At least 23 people were injured when a private bus overturned late Friday night in the Toppass area on the Nuwara Eliya–Kandy main road, police said.
The incident occurred around 11.45 p.m. as the bus, carrying 54 passengers including the driver, veered off the road and overturned. The group was returning from a leisure trip from Kurunegala to Badulla.
Among the injured are 20 women and three men, including the driver and conductor. All were admitted to the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital.
