Sri Lanka Insurance Life (SLIC Life) continues to demonstrate its steadfast commitment to uplifting the nation’s children through the long-standing ‘Pasal Piriyatha Surakimu’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Going above and beyond the call of duty, SLIC Life has been at the forefront of creating better learning environments for underprivileged children across the country since the program’s inception in 2007.
To date, the program has benefitted an impressive 3,365 schools islandwide, underscoring SLIC Life’s pledge to nurture the educational journeys of future generations.
The most recent phase of the initiative was launched on May 24, with projects carried out simultaneously at 100 selected schools throughout the country. Activities were spearheaded by SLIC Life’s Regional and Branch offices, highlighting the strong involvement of the organisation.
This nationwide initiative saw a multitude of programs taking place, including refurbishment of classrooms, provision of clean drinking water, colour washing and repair work, restoration of desks and chairs, and donation of books for both students and school libraries, along with addressing other basic school needs.
The overarching goal is to ensure that children have access to clean, safe, and inspiring learning spaces, especially in underserved communities. The deserving schools for the program were selected based on the categorisation of schools done by the Ministry of Education along with the observations and visits by the SLIC Life regional sales teams.
Sri Lanka Insurance Life has long recognised child education as a key strategic pillar in establishing its leadership within the Sri Lankan market.
The ‘Pasal Piriyatha Surakimu’ initiative complements a broader range of child-focused programs within the organisation.
