BigSpark by Gateway celebrated a major milestone with its 2025 Awards Day at the BMICH Main Hall—an inspiring tribute to young achievers who embody the programme’s vision of developing capable, creative, and compassionate individuals ready to thrive in a dynamic world.

Uniting the Schools of Computing, Language, and Speech & Drama, BigSpark champions STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) through hands-on, inquiry-based learning. At Gateway, education goes beyond textbooks to instill real-world skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation.

Students engage in cutting-edge technology programmes including Robotics, STEM, Coding, and AI. The Computer Pioneers initiative—aligned with Pearson’s iPrimary and iSecondary Computing curriculum—prepares students for IGCSE ICT, Computing, and AL Computer Science. The globally recognized ICDL certification is also offered under this banner.

Language learning is powered by Cambridge, Pearson, and Delta courseware, following the Common European Framework and leading to qualifications from Cambridge University Press and Assessment. Speech & Drama programmes nurture confidence and creativity, with students presented for examinations through LAMDA, Trinity College London, IWMS, and CALSDA.

This year’s Awards Day was graced by leaders of the Awarding Bodies including Premila Paulraj (Pearson South Asia), Zahara Ansary (Cambridge University Press and Assessment), and Varuni Jayasekara (CALSDA), whose presence reinforced the programme’s global relevance.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Harsha Alles, Chairman of the Gateway Group, highlighted the need to equip children not only with knowledge but with the mindset and adaptability to navigate an ever-evolving world.

The ceremony also recognised long-serving academic staff who have contributed over a decade to the institution’s growth.
