The Department of Marketing and Tourism Management, under the Faculty of Business at NSBM Green University, Homagama, has been displaying profound interest in setting grounds for its students to perform in both scholastic and non-scholastic activities. This is evident through the events that took place over these few months proving the calibre of the departments’ staff and students.

The most recent – Culinario on 28th April ‘25, organised by the International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality (ICTH) and sponsored by Edinborough and Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts as title and hospitality partners – brought forward 100 spectacular culinary experts from their classrooms to a competitive culinary ground, battling till Team Risini and Sanjana emerged victorious.

The ICTH vigour and yet again their hustle is further witnessed by Yakari – Food Street held at Siyapathsiya Udanaya ‘25, which created a space for the young cooks to put forth gastronomical stalls. Not stopping there, the Marketing Circle sets the ground for a thrilling competition of gamified learning experiences. From 150 students, three teams qualified for the grand finale.

The NSBM Youth Film Festival 2024, a celebration of young cinematic voices and a proud initiative of the Multimedia Circle, hit the screen with its second edition on 30th May. The 90+ film submissions are a testament to the talent, creativity and enthusiasm of these young filmmakers. Consequently, Ms Swarna Mallawarachchi will grace the screening as the chief guest.

As always, Vice Chancellor Prof. E.A. Weerasinghe, Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Dean of the Faculty of Business Ms Thilini De Silva, and Head of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management Mr Venura Colobage, along with Mr Lasitha De Silva and Ms Senelie Gunaratne for ICTH; Mr Thisal Yatawara and Piumal Herath for the Marketing Circle; Mr Tharaka Nayanapriya, Mr Hasantha Dissanayake, and Mr Oshan Piumantha for the Multimedia Circle; and the rest of the staff members of the department without whom this would not have been possible.

While setting the bar, the Department of Tourism and Marketing Management raises it higher, showing that as a team, collective efforts, hustle, never-ending enthusiasm and innovativeness create a holistic experience for its undergraduate students in Marketing, Tourism, Event and Multimedia Studies.
