The inaugural Alles Cup rugby encounter between St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota and D. S. Senanayake College, Colombo will turn a new chapter in Sri Lanka schools rugby when the two teams face off on June 6 at the Nittawela Grounds in Kandy.

The trophy has been named after renowned educationist R. I. T. Alles, a distinguished old boy of St. Anthony’s and the founder principal of D. S. Senanayake.

The hosting responsibility of the Alles Cup rugby encounter will rotate annually between the two schools.

As a prelude to the inaugural Alles Cup first XV encounter, an Under-16 rugby match between the two schools for the Madura Wickramaratne Trophy will also be conducted at the same venue on the same day. This trophy is named in honour of a distinguished old boy of D. S. Senanayake, who contributed immensely to schools rugby and sports development.

The day’s programme will also include age category rugby matches between the two schools in Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 with reduced time formats, starting at 12.00 noon.
