The Sri Lankan boys’ and girls’ teams, both unbeaten in the South Asia Qualifying round, have secured their spots in the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) 12 and Under Team Competition finals, despite rain forcing the cancellation of the finals in Colombo yesterday.
Alongside their counterparts from Pakistan and India, the Sri Lankan teams have qualified for the ATF finals, which will be held in Singapore in late August 2025.
Sri Lanka’s Boys’ Team, comprised of Revaan Amarasinghe (S. Thomas’ College), Yonal Dankumbura (Ananda College) and Nuren Wevita (St. Joseph’s College) remained undefeated throughout the tournament, under the guidance of Coach Ganendran Subramaniam.
The Sri Lanka Girls’ Team, featuring Sayuri Mututhanthiri (Visakha Vidyalaya), Sethuli Muthugama (Musaeus College) and Samaira Fernando (Colombo International School) also maintained an unbeaten record. Their performance earned them a spot in the finals with Coach Kevin Makandarajah at the helm.
With both Sri Lanka’s Boys’ and Girls’ teams going unbeaten in the tournament, their qualification for the ATF finals marks a significant achievement for Sri Lankan junior tennis.
The young athletes are now set to compete in Singapore, where they will face some of the best junior teams in Asia.
