An educational session titled “Connecting Digital Marketing for Successful Business/ MICE Events” was successfully held by The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) on 26th May 2025 at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management Auditorium.

This educational initiative attracted approximately 100 participants, comprising industry professionals and digital marketing enthusiasts, all keen to explore the strategic integration of digital marketing into the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.

The proceedings commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dheera Hettiarachchi, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau. In his remarks, Hettiarachchi underscored the transformative potential of digital marketing in enhancing Sri Lanka’s global competitiveness as a premier destination for MICE tourism.

Speakers of the day were, Gayathri Seneviratne Vice President of the Digital Marketing Association of Sri Lanka and Chapter Lead, She Loves Data Sri Lanka chapter, Udara Dharmasena-Secretary of the Digital Marketing Association of Sri Lanka and the Vice President Client Success Meta Asp at Roar AdXled the technical sessions, providing in-depth perspectives and actionable insights on embedding digital marketing practices within the MICE framework.

Seneviratne and Dharmasena held the audience’s attention with an insightful exploration of the changing world of digital marketing and its crucial influence on the success of contemporary events. Their dynamic presentations and interactive dialogues provided attendees with valuable knowledge on using digital tools to boost event awareness, foster greater audience interaction and maximize overall effectiveness.

An interactive question-and-answer segment followed. The event concluded with closing remarks by Kumudu Hennedige – Manager Research, Development and Training of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau.

The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau continues to dedicate itself to supporting educational programmes that strengthen the skills of industry professionals that will enhance Sri Lanka’s reputation as a leading hub for MICE and business events.

The next MICE Tourism educational session is scheduled to held in Hambantota on the 25 June 2025 targeting the hoteliers in the Deep South region.
