In a joint effort with Sabaragamuwa University, the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) successfully hosted an engaging educational program designed to elevate Sri Lanka’s profile as a leading destination for international, regional, and local conferences, exhibitions, meetings, and incentive travel.

The event, held on May 21 at Sabaragamuwa University, drew close to 100 enthusiastic undergraduate students—emerging talents who represent the future of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.

The key aim of the initiative was to emphasize Sri Lanka’s strength and potential in the global MICE tourism market while also helping university students build essential industry-related skills. This effort demonstrates SLCB’s ongoing dedication to nurturing young talent and establishing the country as a premier business tourism hotspot.

The session addressed current and relevant topics such as Key Skills and Qualities Expected from Employees in Event Management, Digital Marketing and AI in Event Management, on How to create a successful event and the impact of Legacy in hosting events.

The program featured expert-led discussions, engaging presentations and interactive segments by prominent industry figures, including Chandra Wickramasinghe, Felicia Adihetty and Dr. Shaffaath Amidon. Attendees gained valuable insights into the MICE industry’s career prospects and its vital role in boosting the national economy.

The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, is the country’s leading MICE authority and committed to nurturing local talent while strengthening Sri Lanka’s reputation as a premier destination for business and incentive travel.
