The Venturers Club, University of Colombo recently concluded a two-day event titled Colombo Trails, which brought together participants from eight State universities across Sri Lanka.
The first day of the event was held at the Viharamahadevi Park, where a camp was set up with educational sessions focused on identifying animal footprints, followed by an evening of interactive games and activities.
A 30-kilometre cycling journey around Colombo with all 50 participants was held on the second day. Bicycles were provided for everyone by the main sponsor Lumala, allowing the participants to explore key ecological sites such as the Attidiya Bird Sanctuary and the Beddagana Wetland Park.
At both locations, members of the Young Zoologists’ Association led educational sessions, helping the youth gain a deeper understanding of the local flora and fauna.
This initiative was an opportunity for inter-university collaboration and a blend of adventure and environmental education for the youth.
