Sri Lanka’s top junior golfers, Reshan Algama and Sri Lanka Amateur champion Jevahn Sathasivam, are ready to showcase their talent at the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship 2025 in Indonesia and to be held at the Damai Indah Golf – PIK Course in Indonesia from June 10 to 12.

This two-day competition is one of Asia’s key junior golf tournaments, attracting the region’s best young golfers. For both players, it marks another significant step in their developing careers.

Both Algama and Sathasivam earned their places in this elite field through strong performances on the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), ensuring they are among the region’s most promising young amateurs.

For Reshan, the Ciputra Junior Championship follows his recent success at the Nepal Amateur Open, where he finished in the top four – an exceptional achievement that marks the best performance by a Sri Lankan amateur golfer in the event’s history.

This result is significant not only for Reshan but also for Sri Lankan golf, as it puts the country on the map in one of the region’s most challenging amateur tournaments.

The Nepal Amateur Open has long been a testing ground for top regional golfers and Reshan’s impressive finish was celebrated as a breakthrough moment in Sri Lankan golf.

His performance, characterised by steady shot-making and mental composure, demonstrated his growing maturity as a competitor.

It was also his fifth international outing of the year, which included strong performances at the APGC Junior Championship in Hong Kong and several local events.

Now, as he heads into the Ciputra Championship, Reshan will look to build on his momentum and secure valuable WAGR points.

His goal is not only to challenge for the title but to continue his rise on the international field, with eyes on bigger tournaments ahead.

In contrast to Reshan’s consistent international presence, Jevahn is making his return to international competition after a brief pause due to an injury and academic commitments.

The reigning Sri Lanka Amateur Golf champion, currently ranked 607th in the WAGR will look to re-establish himself among the region’s top players in Indonesia.

Jevahn’s remarkable 2024 season, which included victories at the Sri Lanka Amateur Open, Sri Lanka Junior Open and Nick Faldo Series – Sri Lanka Championship, established him as one of Sri Lanka’s most exciting young prospects.

With the Ciputra event serving as his comeback tournament, Jevahn is determined to make an impact. As the highest-ranked Sri Lankan junior in the WAGR, he has a lot riding on this event.

For Sri Lanka, the participation of Algama and Sathasivam is a sign of the country’s increasing investment in junior golf development.

Both players represent the future of Sri Lankan golf, with their talents set to inspire the next generation of golfers.

For Reshan, this event comes right after his historic finish in Nepal and for Jevahn, it’s a chance to reassert his place among the region’s elite junior golfers.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and continuing my momentum from Nepal,” said Reshan before leaving for Indonesia.

“It’s great to be back, and I’m excited to compete again on the international field,” Jevahn added confidently.
