Trinity College recovered from an early setback to beat Sri Sumangala College 49-15 in their Inter-Schools Under-19 League Rugby Tournament opening fixture played at Pallekele in Kandy.

The President’s Trophy Knock-Out Tournament runners-up went through some anxious moments initially, before turning the game in their favour with eight tries, three conversions and one penalty. Sri Sumangala made a splendid start to the game as they touched down twice in a spectacular manner and were trailing 15-20 at half time.

But they lost momentum in the second half and struggled to add to their scoreboard before ending with two tries, one conversion and one penalty.
