St. Peter’s College recovered from an early setback to pull off a hard fought 38-22 victory over Ananda College in their Inter-Schools Under-19 League Rugby Tournament encounter played at Bambalapitiya yesterday.
The defending champions were trailing after the first few minutes of the game as the Anandians showed tremendous determination and threatened to create a major upset.
The visitors led 14-7 at one stage but the Peterites bounced back to level the scores 14-14 and took a 28-19 lead at half time.
The Peterites dominated the second half and added three more tries to their tally while Ananda managed only a solitary penalty during this period.
