What began as a solo venture has grown into a team of over 50 professionals across Sri Lanka, Canada, and Australia. Despite its global presence, Hatchyard remains committed to strengthening Sri Lanka’s digital capabilities. After years of working in Europe and Australia, Hatchyard’s founders saw a troubling trend: while top engineers overseas were building software to solve their own countries’ problems, Sri Lanka’s best IT talent was largely working on foreign contracts. This left local industries — banks, telcos, businesses — underserved or dependent on imported solutions.
Hatchyard was created to shift that balance. With a clear mission to build software for Sri Lanka by Sri Lankans, the company began as a product-focused business, keeping intellectual property local and solving real domestic challenges.
Today, Hatchyard has evolved into a global tech partner:
• Its AI division is creating smart agents to automate and optimise industries.
• As a certified Odoo ERP partner, it delivers affordable, powerful ERP/CRM solutions to clients in Sri Lanka and abroad.
• Through remote staff augmentation, it connects Sri Lankan talent to international clients.
• With AI-enhanced development pipelines, Hatchyard has reduced delivery time by up to 50%.
A major focus is helping SMEs digitise — automating core functions such as accounting and inventory to improve efficiency and boost exports.
To fight the growing brain drain, Hatchyard gives local professionals global opportunities while allowing them to stay in Sri Lanka — supporting family life and national growth.
Looking ahead, the company is launching AI agent solutions aimed at hospitals, hotels, and insurance sectors. These multilingual agents — trained in Sinhala, Tamil, and English — aim to make essential services more accessible, especially for seniors and rural communities.
Hatchyard also invests in social impact — mentoring youth, empowering women in tech, and promoting inclusive innovation. “We’re not just building apps. We’re building confidence that Sri Lanka can lead in tech — not just follow.”
