It is indeed good news to hear of many achievements in the hospitality trade, and the latest to join this prestigious group of achievers is Raddison Hotels for recognition on sustainability, as our cover story reveals. (Page 29)

It is also important to thank those who assist us to achieve accolades for the country. Sri Lanka Tourism did just that with a ‘Partnership appreciation event’ held recently, in a show of gratitude by felicitating the many funders and those who guided in gaining the recognition received for Sigiriya as a sustainable Tourist destination. Full story is on this page.

The concept of sustainable Tourism certification began in 2018 and the magnificent Sigiriya leads the way in the category of sustainable Tourist destinations, setting a fine example for other provinces to now follow suit.

While the country promotional campaigns are accelerated across the world, with the help of the respective country embassies and Industry private sector leaders, the results are visible currently with the number of arrivals steady even though the so called traditional Tourism season over.

The inbound tour operators are doing a great job with their itineraries for guests including temple visits on special days of religious observations. In this way the visitors get to experience our culture and traditions. (Page 33)
